Infiniti (インフィニティ, Infiniti, IPA: [iɰ̃ɸiniti]) is the luxury vehicle division of Japanese automaker Nissan. Infiniti officially started selling vehicles on November 8, 1989, in North America.
The Nissan Motor Company began manufacturing Infiniti luxury cars in late 1989 for the 1990 model year. The Infiniti's direct competitors are the Honda Acura and the Toyota Lexus. It is offered as a coupe, sedan or sport utility vehicle.
In its first full year, Infiniti started out with two vehicles, the Q45 sedan and the M30 coupe and convertible. The compact, entry-level G20 was introduced soon after.
Infiniti is the luxury brand of Nissan automotive group. Infiniti, like Acura and Lexus, share engines, chassis designs and features from its parent company, but offers its consumers more high-end vehicles in regards to performance and convenience.
